About Me
I'm a high school science teacher during the work week and a nature and wildlife photographer on weekends and holidays. Both of those things grew out of a love and passion for the natural world. In fact, wether I'm in my classroom teaching, or out in the field taking pictures, I'm really trying to achieve the same goal. That goal is to communicate some of the wonder and magnificence of nature to other people.
My interest in nature goes back as far as I can remember, but my journey in photography began in High School when my parents gave me my first "real" camera, (an Olympus OM-10, that should definitely date me!). Then as now my subjects were mostly the animals and landscapes closest at hand. With wildlife I tend to gravitate to the types of animals ignored by most wildlife photographers, herps (reptiles and amphibians), being a particular favorite. With landscapes too I tend to prefer the unnamed places that are overlooked by most photographers. I think these preferences extend from my belief that all of nature, not just the CMFs (charismatic megafauna) and grand landscapes, are beautiful, interesting, and important.
